Sealed engines

Following plenty of speculation we can now confirm the final figures for the championship-spec engines — developed to deliver reliable, consistent performance while maintaining a level playing field across the grid. 

These engines are built by Retro, Race & Rally in collaboration with Brett Simms Motorsport, combining proven experience in both road and race engine preparation.

To support accessibility into the category, we have worked hard to keep pricing as low as possible for orders placed during 2026. This should be evident when you see what you're getting for your money

below. Every engine is capable of taking you to the title.

Base Requirement

Pricing is based on the competitor supplying a standard 1.9 GTi pre-cat engine.

Each engine is fully stripped, cleaned, and inspected at RR&R. 

The internals and cylinder head are sent off to Brett Simms who carries out some light head work, setting of the compression ratio, new valve guides, cam regrind, lightening of the flywheel, balancing of the rods and pistons and dynamic balancing of the entire bottom end.

Back at Retro, Race and Rally the engine is assembled with all new seals and gaskets, new liners, piston rings, bearings, oil pump, group A sump baffle, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and comprehensively sealed to prevent you pesky kids from meddling!

We’re offering two packages, both are mechanically the same and with exactly the same performance, the basic package gives you the essentials to meet requirements, the full package includes vapour blasting of all the alloy components and a few extra new parts like cam belt covers and alloy crank pulley leaving you with an engine that looks like it just left the factory and is ready to drop in and fire up. 

Engine Packages

Basic Engine Package – from £4,130 + VAT

Includes:

• Full overhaul (seals, gaskets, liners, piston rings, oil pump, bearings, etc.)

• Cleaned and degreased external components

• Group A sump baffle

• Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Full Engine Package – from £4,765 + VAT

Includes everything in the basic package, plus:

• Vapour blasted alloy components (block, mounts, manifold, etc.)

• New plastic cam belt covers

• All new sensors

• Alloy crank pulley

Build slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Both packages work on the assumption that all the components supplied are usable, any additional crank grinding, oversize bearings, blank camshafts, snapped bolts etc will be charged additionally. Once the donor engine is stripped you’ll be notified of any additional work required. 

We have three engines in build already, with at least a couple more in the wings waiting for these final pricing details, slot 004 is currently available for mid April.
